An Emerging Leader in Healthcare

Leadership, to me, is not simply about holding a title or position — it is about creating meaningful change, inspiring others, and remaining committed to growth through every stage of life and career. As an emerging leader in healthcare, my journey has been shaped by resilience, compassion, cultural awareness, and a strong desire to improve access to quality care within underserved communities.

I am a registered nurse with more than 14 years of healthcare experience spanning emergency nursing, care coordination, utilization management, and patient advocacy. Throughout my career, I have cared for patients during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Those experiences taught me the importance of communication, teamwork, adaptability, and compassionate leadership in environments that are often fast-paced and emotionally demanding.

Advancing Through Leadership Education

My leadership journey continued to evolve as I pursued my MSN in Leadership in Health Care Systems. Through graduate education and professional experience, I developed a deeper understanding of healthcare operations, organizational leadership, quality improvement, and strategic planning. More importantly, I began to recognize the significant impact nurse leaders can have beyond direct patient care — by helping shape systems that improve access, efficiency, and patient outcomes.

My Practicum with Emerald Psych LLC

One of the most meaningful experiences in my leadership development has been my practicum project at Emerald Psych LLC, a telehealth psychiatric practice serving adults throughout New Jersey. My practicum focuses on a strategic growth and population engagement initiative aimed at expanding access to mental health services for underserved populations — including Portuguese-speaking communities and members of the LGBTQ+ community. The project combines healthcare leadership with community outreach, digital marketing optimization, and patient engagement strategies designed to increase visibility and improve access to compassionate, inclusive psychiatric care.

Working alongside leadership at Emerald Psych LLC has allowed me to gain firsthand experience in healthcare business operations, stakeholder collaboration, strategic planning, and practice growth. Through this project, I have explored the importance of culturally competent outreach, online reputation management, search engine optimization, and patient-centered communication in today's evolving healthcare landscape. I also learned that leadership extends well beyond clinical decision-making — it includes innovation, adaptability, and the ability to identify opportunities for organizational improvement.

A Commitment to Access, Inclusion & Equity

This experience strengthened my passion for serving diverse communities and reinforced my belief that healthcare leaders must remain committed to accessibility, inclusion, advocacy, and equitable care. As someone who values cultural representation and community empowerment, I understand how language barriers, stigma, discrimination, and limited resources can prevent individuals from seeking the mental health services they need. My goal as a future leader is to help bridge those gaps through education, outreach, and strategic collaboration that supports individuals from all backgrounds.

Looking Ahead: Education That Empowers

Beyond my nursing and leadership goals, I aspire to establish a home health aide training program that offers education in Haitian Creole while remaining inclusive and accessible to everyone interested in a healthcare career. I believe education creates opportunity, strengthens communities, and empowers people to serve others with confidence and compassion.

Resilience & Growth

Like many healthcare professionals, my journey has included challenges, setbacks, and moments of uncertainty. Those experiences have also taught me resilience, perseverance, and the importance of continuous learning. Every obstacle has contributed to the leader I am becoming today.

As an emerging leader, I recognize that leadership is not about perfection or authority alone. It is about service, integrity, collaboration, and the willingness to keep growing while helping others succeed. My goal is not only to advance professionally, but to create meaningful change within healthcare organizations and the communities they serve.
